Game Designer (T.M.) [Employed upon graduation/Japan]

Accepted my first job offer, which was from Amata.

I’ve loved games ever since I was small, and I’ve always dreamed of entering the game industry and making my own game that would deeply touch users.  So after graduating from high school, I went straight to a vocational school and seriously studied game development. When I went job hunting, I applied to Amata because they were capable of creating mobile online games, and were on a roll with developing major titles like “FINAL FANTASY AGITO.” Luckily, they offered me a job. It was the first job offer I had ever received but. I have no regrets taking it up.

The professional world is tough.

After joining the company, I wrote up the specifications and proposals, and handled the QA test (listing and debugging) for a number of projects. I created various documents whenever necessary, and it was quite tough. It’s quite difficult to write business documents that are easy to understand, while also being concise, logical, and also keeping an eye on the structure and visualization as well.  I struggled with it on a daily basis.I try my best to come up with something that’s well refined within the limited time that I have, but often it doesn’t make the cut.

Want to grow even more than the company.

With Amata actively expanding into the Asian market and entering the media business, I feel that  it is looking towards  the future and growing. I will work hard and grow even more than the company! Since I entered this industry out of love, hardships are taken as joys. It is tough when there are so many things that you have to do, but my senior co-workers give me advice, and I gain experience in various things too, so there are good things that you won’t find in a large company.

Thinking on your own when writing up documents.

After honing my specialization, I want to become a producer or director in ten years and take the lead role in developing.   Although Amata is not yet a large company, it is where you can learn various diverse aspects of game design. So in that way, it’s a good company for those who are proactive.  In the beginning, a game designer’s work mostly centers around generating documents, so instead of simply relying on  templates, it would be best if  you think on your own, and study so that you can learn to generate various types of documents.
